Be a Positive Influence in the Classroom

If you have a passion for beauty and a passion for teaching, we want you to learn more about the instructor program at our schools. Instructors in a beauty school have the opportunity to train future generations of beauty professionals, which makes a huge impact on the future of the entire industry! Licensed cosmetologists with less than three years of working experience could complete the 1000-hour instructor program, while licensed cosmetologists with three or more years of experience could complete the 500-hour instructor program.

Either way, the program is offered on a full-time schedule, so students in the program can begin teaching as soon as possible. Whether you want to study at Aveda Institute Boise or Aveda Institute Twin Falls, we invite you to contact us to request more information.

Expert Guidance and Training as You Pursue Your Teaching Goals

As you consider your options as a beauty school instructor, you may be wondering what an instructor program looks and feels like. The instructor program at our beauty schools offers a training program that is similar to cosmetology training in many respects. Similar to the way cosmetology students learn, instructor students learn through a variety of classroom work, lectures, and demonstrations. They expand their knowledge by studying more advanced practices and principles, and they have the unique opportunity to oversee other students’ work in the student salon. As with all our programs, the instructor program includes the use of Aveda products, which are known for being safe, effective, and environmentally friendly.

As a student in our instructor program, you could elevate your career as a cosmetologist. The additional skills and experiences you encounter in our program may open up new doors that were not available to you before. For example, you could earn certification with Aveda hair cut and color systems, both of which are only available to those completing the instructor program. You could also continue to grow within the larger Aveda network as you add to your skill set and reach your personal goals.

Students in our instructor program are typically people who we believe are a good fit for our school because we want to find students we could eventually hire to work here at one of our campuses. Employment is the end goal of our instructor program. We will continue to support our instructor students as they look for employment.

Instructor Program Location and Hours

The full-time instructor program is available at both Aveda Institute Boise and Aveda Institute Twin Falls.

The length of the program depends on your experience. Licensed cosmetologists with less than three years of experience behind the chair must take the 1000-hour instructor program course, while licensed cosmetologists with three or more years of working experience can take the 500-hour instructor program course.

FAQs About Our Instructor Program

Is the instructor program full-time or part-time?

We offer the instructor program as a full-time course, so our students can reach their educational goals as soon as possible. If you have questions about specific times and dates of classes, please contact us.

How much does the instructor program cost?

Contact our admissions team to learn more about program costs.

Is financial aid available to students in the instructor program?

Yes! Financial aid is available to those who qualify. There are some unique aspects of the instructor program that makes financial aid opportunities different from those of our other programs. Only students enrolled in the 1000-hour instructor program can qualify for financial aid. Those enrolled in the 500-hour program are not eligible because of the short duration of the program. Either way, it is a good idea to begin the financial aid process by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).

Many students at our school have qualified for Pell Grants. They have even qualified for grants that exceed the cost of our program, which means they could pay for the program and have some money left over without needing to take out a loan. Contact us to learn more about your financial aid opportunities.

What are the prerequisites for enrolling in the instructor program?

You must have a current cosmetology license for the state of Idaho to enroll in either of our instructor programs. Enrolling in the 500-hour program requires three or more years of experience as a licensed cosmetologist.
